第32話　優勝杯を返す日

生まれて初めて、「優勝杯返還」という経験をしました。

昨年、かしま病院は、いわきおどり小名浜大会で悲願の初優勝を果たしました。

そして今年は、その優勝杯を手に会場へ向かいました。

返還の瞬間は少し寂しくもありましたが、それ以上に誇らしい気持ちでした。

「あの優勝は、本当に私たちみんなで勝ち取ったものだったんだ。」

そんな実感が湧いてきました。

今年も連覇を目指して踊りました。

正直に言えば、踊りは決して上手ではありません。

でも、それは去年も同じです。

医師、看護師、リハビリスタッフ、放射線技師、臨床検査技師、事務職員、そして家族。

それぞれが仕事や立場を超えて、一つの輪になり、笑顔で踊っていました。

結果は――

第3位。

連覇はなりませんでした。

それでも、悔しさより先に心に残ったのは、「今年もみんなで踊れて良かった」という気持ちでした。

病院も同じだと思います。

誰か一人の力で成り立つ病院ではありません。

それぞれの専門職が互いを信頼し、それぞれの持ち場で力を発揮する。

だからこそ、一つのチームとして地域を支えることができます。

そして忘れてはいけない仲間がいます。

暑い中、一緒に踊ってくれた職員の皆さん。

給水や誘導など、見えないところで支えてくれたサポートメンバーの皆さん。

そして何より、病院に残り、夜勤や救急対応を担い、地域医療を守ってくれた仲間の皆さん。

皆さんのおかげで、私たちは安心して地域のお祭りに参加することができました。

本当にありがとうございました。

優勝杯は返しました。

しかし、私たちが持ち帰ったものは、第3位の賞状だけではありません。

職種を超えて笑い合った時間。

地域の皆さんと同じリズムで踊った時間。

そして、「かしま病院って楽しそうな病院ですね」と声をかけていただいた、その何気ない一言です。

病院は、地域の中にあります。

だから、地域のお祭りを楽しむことも、地域を知ることも、私たちにとって大切な仕事の一つです。

来年もまた、この街で笑顔で踊りたいと思います。

優勝を目指して。

そして何より、この街を愛する仲間とともに。

医療を置く場所は、病院ではなく、街。

今年も、そのことを小名浜の夏祭りが教えてくれました。

Episode 32: Returning the Champion's Cup

For the first time in my life, I experienced something I had never imagined:

Returning a championship trophy.

Last year, Kashima Hospital won the Iwaki Odori Onahama Festival for the very first time. This year, we walked into the venue carrying the champion's cup, knowing it was our turn to return it.

There was a touch of sadness in handing it back, but an even stronger sense of pride.

It reminded me that last year's victory truly belonged to all of us.

Of course, we came this year hoping to defend our title.

To be honest, our dancing wasn't particularly polished.

But then again, it wasn't last year either.

Doctors, nurses, rehabilitation therapists, radiological technologists, medical laboratory technologists, administrative staff, family members—we all stepped beyond our everyday roles and danced together as one team.

When the results were announced, we finished third.

We didn't repeat as champions.

Yet what stayed with me wasn't disappointment.

It was gratitude.

Gratitude that we had another opportunity to laugh, dance, and celebrate together.

Hospitals are much the same.

No hospital is built by one profession alone.

Every member of the team contributes different expertise, trusts one another, and works toward the same purpose.

That is how we care for our community.

There are also people whose contributions deserve special recognition.

To everyone who danced under the summer sky.

To the volunteers and support staff who worked behind the scenes.

And especially to our colleagues who remained at the hospital, working night shifts and caring for patients so the rest of us could join our community.

Thank you.

Because of you, the hospital never stopped caring.

We returned the champion's cup.

But we brought home something far more valuable than a trophy.

We brought home shared laughter.

Shared memories.

And the smiles of people who said,

"Kashima Hospital looks like such a wonderful place to work."

A hospital does not exist apart from its community.

Taking part in local traditions is not separate from healthcare—it is one way of understanding the people we serve.

Next year, we hope to dance again.

Of course, we would love to win.

But even more than that, we want to celebrate this town together with the people who live here.

Because healthcare does not belong only inside hospital walls.

Its true place is in the community.
